Meet Elisabeth Blain
Self-funded Missionary at St. Innocent Orphanage

“I’m 24 years old and I’m from Lancaster, Pa. My first experience with Project Mexico was in 2015 for a homebuilding trip with my home parish. It was such a wonderful and transformative experience that I decided to come back for homebuilding five years in a row. I then interned for the summer in 2022. I loved that I got an opportunity to put my faith in action by building homes. We got to see the fruits of our hard labor and it was incredibly rewarding. I gained so many wonderful Orthodox friends, learned many new skills and got to meet so many Orthodox Christians from all over the country. All of these experiences were so meaningful and beautiful that I decided to move to Mexico to work and to serve. I have always felt a calling to missions in my life and I am so blessed now that I can serve the people of Mexico through an organization that I have grown up being a part of.”

Liz is just one of the many Project Mexico/St. Innocent Orphanage volunteers and missionaries who dedicate time in their lives to put their faith into action. We also had the pleasure of working with Liz's brother, Aaron several years ago when he spent a summer as an intern helping with homebuilding

While at Project Mexico for this year's homebuilding trip, we were fortunate to witness the first Orthodox infant orphanage in Northern Baja being commemorated! We joined in prayer and celebration for this beautiful addition to St. Innocent Orphanage. You can also support he ongoing ministry at Casa Cuna San Felipe and needs of the infant orphanage here: https://www.projectmexico.org/donate.
